APFED co-organised the "Asia Regional Seminar for Sustainable Resource Management" and a public seminar entitled "Resource Management and the 3Rs: Towards a Sustainable Asia" with the Ministry of the Environment of Japan and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The two events were held back-to-back with the APFED Showcase Workshop on 9th March, 2009 that presented local initiatives on the 3Rs supported under the APFED Showcase Programme.
The seminars were intended to promote common understanding on topics addressed by UNEP Resource Panel, namely decoupling of economic development and environmental degradation, metal resources and recycling, and biomass use and biofuels. The speakers and audience shared information on 3R promotion activities of governments and international organisations and on their 3R implementation measures.
